TOP CAT DELIVERS MILESTONE VICTORY
Sunday, 29 Dec 2024

GLENS TOP CAT delivered a landmark first Saturday Metropolitan victory for the stable with a superior staying performance at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Continuing the stable’s winning run following the victory of RUN LIKE HELL just days earlier, GLENS TOP CAT relished the step-up to 3000m on the quick back-up to score a tough on-speed win under the urgings of Billy Egan.
It was a moment to remember for trainer Trent Edmonds with the horse who gave him his first winner at a trainer in his own right earlier this year.
Edmonds said he had opted to back the horse-up after his close-up fourth in the Pakenham Cup last Saturday.
“He was bucking his brands off during the week and really freshened well,” said Edmonds.
“He showed no signs of training off, he presented beautifully here today and maybe that run last week just topped him off because I thought he was there to win.
“He just enjoyed a free-flowing run from the half mile home today and Billy gave him a great ride.
“He just put him to sleep for the first two-thirds of the race and things worked out perfectly.”
GLENS TOP CAT has proved to be a real money spinner for the stable with Saturday’s win marking his fourth victory for the stable since being purchased earlier this year.
