GLENS PROVES HE'S THE TOP CAT AGAIN
GLENS TOP CAT produced a tough staying performance to continue his winning form for the stable with a gritty victory over 2020m at Mornington on October 10.

In what marked his third win since joining the stable in March this year, the son of Gleneagles showed plenty of toughness carrying 60kg to score by the narrowest of margins under the urgings of Daniel Stackhouse.

Trainer Trent Edmonds was full of praise for the performance given GLENS TOP CAT was forced to make a long sustained run and fight all the way to the line.

“What an effort, he was flushed out and we were really on the way forward at the 800m so he’s done a fantastic job to be resolute late and get the job done,” said Edmonds.

“The horse inside him was fighting back with 3.5kg less and basically having the run of the race.

“I’m really proud of him, he’s a little ripper.”

Having resumed with a creditable second over the less suitable 1600m the start prior, Edmonds said the horse’s form this preparation could be attributed to a decent spell over the winter months.

“He had a month off, spelled beautifully and put a great amount of condition on and looked super.

“Everything’s gone to plan ever since.”

Stackhouse said the win was full of merit given the circumstances.

“He was really good and he really had to work hard to get the win,” said Stackhouse.

“I could feel that horse breathing down my shoulder from the 1000m and when they started flushing out we had to get going.

“He travelled well into it and had to dig deep.”

Since being purchased online for $12,000 earlier this year, the 6yo has now won more than $55,000 for his new ownership group with three wins and two minor placings.
